The secret to building in public is reflecting in private.
Time spent alone, looking at your work, helps you find meaning in it. With mindful reflection, you’ll learn how to do good, how you can add value to others’ lives.
I recommend a simple exercise — an indirect approach to examining your work.
Every night, ask yourself:
Did I live today?
Did I love today?
Did I make a difference?
The best part about these questions is you can interpret them however you’d like.
To live likely means something different to you than it does to your colleague. Only you know if you truly loved. And did I make a difference? Well, that’s the best one of all because there are so many ways to do it.
Tonight, take a moment to sit in silence and genuinely give your day a good hard look. You might be surprised by what comes up.
